This project agreement (PA) concerns Röde Orm, a project within the area of command and control aiming to present concepts for command posts of the future. The parties to this agreement are (1) the US Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC) and the (2) the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI). The principal organization involved on the Swedish side in implementing and fulfilling all operational responsibilities within this PA will be the Swedish National Defense College (SNDC).
This agreement is in the best interest of both MCCDC and FOI/SNDC because each side has unique expertise which synergizes with the expertise of the other. MCCDC brings expertise in agent-based modeling and simulation, data synthesis techniques, nonlinear dynamics, human dynamics modeling, and co-evolving landscapes. SNDC brings expertise in innovative command post technologies, visual representations, multidimensional reasoning, time criticality, and crisis-space uncertainty and complexity. Together, these two sets of expertise make possible the unique opportunity to conduct research and development of an innovative command and control environment.
